The 8-Bit Guy
США
Добавлен 25 июл 2006
A computer video series focusing mainly on retro technology from the 80s, 90s and 2000s. However, once or twice a year I'll create something totally "out there." My main goal at this point is to make educational content about retro technology that is interesting and engaging. Some people will be re-living their childhood, while others will be experiencing the technology for the first time.

Building a beautiful Acrylic Commodore PET
I got my first PC in 1982. Watching this video makes feel older than Methuselah (will be 70 soon...)
According to this video, there are 4 types of people: 1. The pessimist (The guy who hates every keyboard, no offense) 2. The optimist (The guy who loves every keyboard) 3. The neutral (The guy that doesn't say much, doesn't really like nor dislike the keyboards) 4. The couple (The guy with the woman) 😂
Compare with 120ah model with rex
Was surprised you didn't wore the "I like my chips with DIP" t-shirt sporting a 6502 (or 6510?) while doing this video. Was it in the laundry at that time? 😉
Kids need toys of the future ! They don’t need stunted growth with brain dead *BASIC* based computers ! They need something which can do *CIRCUIT PYTHON* or *MICRO PYTHON*
Why have so many monitors ? What’s the purpose ?
Can it run windows
hello fellow amigaboys!
kae amaa buri nagoobalhaa
I wish RUclips was around in the 80s and 90s. Everyone I asked had no idea how computers actually worked so I just stopped asking and went with the industry "best" software and hardware. If I could have known someone who understood how hardware worked I'm sure my entire life would be different. I'm old now and the lack of rush in my life has given me time to learn these things. I used to think things like the NES, SNES and the general computer worked like a modern FPGA back then. Life is wild.
I'm sorry, but it's not true. The intel 4004 CPU was changed the world. 6502 is a copy of that invention. The microprocessor.
How to realise the fullscreen c64 borderless FLESCOS graphic mode? This was shown on the 11. May 2024 C64 Demo: 13 : 37 by Fairlight.
March 2016! This was the masterpiece that sent me through the retrocomputing rabbit hole. Eight eventful years! Thank you!
This is why Grounding Wires is required
Ah, memories
I can't stop being amazed by you! I am especially pleased with your attention to small details, so that people would enjoy playing your game. I think this is how all games should be done :) Thank you!
If the keyboard doesn't work then it's stupid. They could have made the case much smaller.
Im pretty sure your restoration videos are also a great learning source for some people (For example, me.) I'd like to get my hands on a C64 some time this summer and enter the world of 8-Bit computing. Im just a kid in their teens and like old stuff. My main interest is Audio formats and i want the c64 for its Tracking softwares. I also want to get myself an Amiga 500 system aswell. And your videos overall help me learn the mindset, the process and the handling of such technologies. So thanks a lot for this source of information you provide to people like myself who are newcomers or people that came back to using Old Computers.
What the heck is a mealee second
Not typing the commands is BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why the HELL did the audio NOT get modulated onto the composite video, or is the speaker only if you use direct video, and no external audio plug? WTF???????
That Sony SD-1 cassette holds 100 GB of data and is used in the Sony DMS-24
Looks great! I may grab one at some point if have more soace for another computer. :-)
Better than those fake lame ass restoration videos from india where they randomly toss gameboy advances in mud for an hour and pretend they found it on the side of the road.
Can you restore my NES? I will pay you lol
EV cars are extremely lame
How does the printer on the video camera work? Oh wait you put in a picture and press print.
BBC and micro just dont even make sense being in the same name.
14:38 "original NES version" I would expected you to be more knowledgeable than to say something like that. The NES was actually only the nineteenth system to receive a version of Tetris, not including the ACTUAL original Electronika 60 version.
Bagel
That was very interesting. Thank you for all the work that you put into this video.
Oh, I'm going to check out those restorations!
Thanks, The brief conversions to Celsius darn I never imagined Texas gets that cold
No pacman, no sale. That was the reason to get a 400 or 800.
Choplifter and something like Missile Command on the Vic were my favourites.
Very inspiring! You are incredible!!!
In April 2024, Zilog announced that it would begin discontinuing the manufacture of the Z80 CPU after 48 years on the market, the 3.58MHz Z80 Processor, really changed the world!
Hello! The label of COVOX diskette says: C-64 Voice Master & " SCS SOFTWARE "? It's the same company of Truck simulator games?? American truck and Euro truck 2??
W O O O W!😀
Floating point divide is generally implemented with tables to assist in the calculation speed.
Glad you liked ST:Picard! What do you think of Lower Decks? I think it hilariously brilliant.
imagine stealing your sister's barbie cam and making your rc car into an fpv explorer in 2001
where is your paper clip
Yeah Dave I watch the larger console channel
I so remember the Lemmings game!
9:29 that's what she said
The issue with reaching the educational market is that they are filled up with corporate handshakes in the modern Facism to make students learn on *specific* tools. Look at Texas Instruments and how deep in bed they are; where the TI-93+ or TI-94 is required and costs over $100 even though it is made of 4 decades old technology. The educational market, especially Microsoft and Apple, are NOT going to let some random guy come in and take over their market.
Thank you so much!!!
Is it touchscreen? I see the port there
I had the 770 from new until fairly recently. I purchased in Hong Kong. I had the case that included tape deck and 4 colour plotter printer. I'd also fully upgraded with the additional 3 8k RAM modules giving 32k RAM and 32k ROM. I developed a Simplex / Linear Programming solution on it for a University project. It was a superb machine with great capabilities. Also regretted getting rid of it :-(
